10 Places to Eat in Broad Ripple, Indianapolis — From A Local

After living in Broad Ripple for four years, I've definitely eaten my way through this Indianapolis neighborhood (many times over), and it’s a pretty good place to be hungry. If you’re in the mood for patio vibes, comfort food, or a droolworthy cocktail (or mocktail), Broad Ripple has it all.

Here are 10 of my favorite spots to hit up in this lively part of Indy:

1. Delicia

Starting strong with some of the best Latin food in the area. Delicia serves up incredible dishes packed with flavor, plus their cocktails are top-tier. This is a spot you’ll find yourself returning to—trust me.

2. Ambrosia

My go-to for Italian in the area (and honestly Indianapolis). Their bolognese is so good, it’ll make you forget about everything else. Their seasonal sangria is also a must try.

3. Root & Bone

When southern comfort food calls, Root & Bone answers. Root & Bone has industrial vibes, serving up farm-fresh mains and sides that hit the spot every time. Their fried green tomatoes are some of the best around.

4. Half Liter BBQ

BBQ, beers, and patio vibes—what more could you ask for? Even if you’re not a big meat eater (like me), this spot still hits the mark. The sides are standout, especially the hot honey Brussels sprouts and the creamy 4-cheese mac. And for a refreshing drink, don’t skip on the frozen strawberry daiquiri (it’s not too sweet).

5. Flatwater

Live music by the water with solid bar food? Enter Flatwater. It’s the perfect laid-back spot for enjoying the canal and grabbing a drink with friends. Don’t miss the cauliflower tacos.

6. Public Greens

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve eaten here, and for good reason. Public Greens serves up healthy dishes that never sacrifice flavor. The soba noodles and curried red lentil soup are my go-to picks. Plus, the fresh, farm-to-table menu keeps things interesting, and the fire pit outside adds a cozy vibe in the colder months.

7. Jazz Kitchen

Great food meets live jazz. The Jazz Kitchen offers an awesome combo of tasty dishes and a fun, music-filled atmosphere. You have to buy tickets — going for drinks or to be seated for dinner during a show.

8. Mama Carolla’s

If you’re after a beautiful garden patio experience, Mama Carolla’s is the place to go. This Italian-American restaurant in Broad Ripple is nestled in a house, that serves up hearty, comforting dishes that make you feel like they’re straight from your grandma’s kitchen.

9. Bazbeaux

Craving pizza? Bazbeaux has you covered. It's the perfect spot for a casual, delicious slice whenever those pizza cravings strike. Don’t miss out on their Caesar salad either—it’s a standout. My personal favorite? The Bazbeaux Special, fresh basil, garlic and sun-dried tomatoes.

10. Fernando’s

For cocktails that look as good as they taste, Fernando’s is the spot. Whether you're sipping on a cocktail or a mocktail, the flavors don’t disappoint. The NA Paloma with a tajín rim is my personal favorite, and the caipirinha—Brazil's national cocktail—is a must-try.
